Hi, I’m Deb Fitzpatrick, a writer of books for young adults. I live and work in Western Australia, whose capital city, Perth, friendly as it is, is also known as the most remote capital city on earth.

I’ve written two books so far: 90 packets of instant noodles (Fremantle Press, 2010) and Have you seen Ally Queen? (Fremantle Press, 2011).

I wrote my first book, 90 packets of instant noodles, while living in a shack in the cloudforest of Costa Rica. 90 packets went on to be listed by the Children’s Book Council of Australia as a Notable Book for 2011.

I wrote Have you seen Ally Queen? longhand and out of a backpack while travelling through South America. Despite that, and under another name, it was shortlisted for the 2007 TAG Hungerford Award.

I have a Master of Arts in creative writing from The University of Western Australia, and am working on my third book.

I love coming out to schools and meeting my readers and their teachers. If you’d like to book me for a visit to your school, just use the Contacts page to get in touch.
